Tevez ready to roar for Shanghai

FOOTBALL: Carlos Tevez is set to play Brisbane Roar on Wednesday in the Asian Champions League but has already opened his account for Shanghai Shenhua - against another Aussie opponent.

NSW National Premier League side and former NSL giants Sydney United returned on Friday from a trip to Shanghai to face the cashed-up Super League side.

Boasting the best paid player in the sport, Sydney United fell 3-0 in a pre-ACL friendly, arranged to give Shanghai a chance to face off against Australian opponents in preparation for the game against Brisbane Roar.

And it was superstar Tevez who grabbed his first goal for the club with a stunning 25 metre strike at Hongkou Stadium.

With a star-studded side that also includes former EPL striker Obafemi Martins and Inter Milan's Fredy Guarin, Sydney United held on for the majority of the first half before Martins broke the deadlock.

Then, in the second half, Tevez and Martins added two more goals as former Australian youth international Nick Stavroulakis nabbed the honour of swapping shirts with the ex-Manchester United, City and Juventus superstar.
