Tenpin mascot ‘Gazza’ stolen
GAZZA Tenpin has been an icon in Bundaberg for more than 25 years but yesterday the mascot was stolen along with a brand new trailer.
Bundy Bowl and Leisure director Peter McElligott said the easily identified object was stolen from Kendalls Flats, near the old netball courts, in the early hours of Thursday morning.
"It was parked at Kendalls Flats with the trailer and when I returned to pick it up, it was gone," he said.
Mr McElligott said the mascot stood just under two and a half meters in height and the trailer, which was newly purchased, was bright orange in colour.
He said the theft had left him feeling disappointed .
"I am pretty distraught. I have been driving Gazza around for 25 years," he said,
"Children have grown up seeing him parked all around Bundaberg along with countless appearances at local fetes and festivals up the main street.
"He brings a lot of happiness to people."
Mr McElligott is offering a reward of one hundred free games of tenpin bowling for any information for the return of Gazza and his trailer.
