Teens airlifted to hospital for horse fall, snake bite

TWO teenage girls had to be airlifted to Mackay Base Hospital after two separate incidents.

The RACQ CQ Rescue chopper flew to Dysart about 7.45pm on Friday for a 15-year-old girl, who had sustained injuries after falling from a horse.

The Mackay teen was not wearing a helmet when the horse bolted and she landed heavily on her back, an RACQ CQ Rescue spokeswoman said.

While at Dysart hospital, the crew was diverted to Clermont to transport another 16-year-old girl from a nearby station with a suspected snake bite.

The 15-year-old is recovering in hospital, while the 16-year-old has since been released.
