Teen hit in pelvis after bullet thrown in fire

A MARYBOROUGH boy remains in Hervey Bay Hospital with injuries to his pelvis after a bullet he threw into a fire exploded.

A police spokesman said the incident happened about 6.30pm on Saturday on a property on Boonooroo Rd in Granville.

The 16-year-old was with another boy when the incident happened, the spokesman said.

He said the injured teenager had thrown the bullet into the fire and a projectile exploded out of the fire and struck him in the pelvis.

"He is still in hospital and police are investigating the incident under the Explosives Act."
