Teen 'foolish' at club opening

AN 18-YEAR-OLD who became violent at the opening night of One Nightclub faced court this morning.

Police had to be called to the club several times on the night of December 10 due to several disturbances, including one caused by Bundaberg South teen Lian Daniel Shaw.

Police prosecutor Jason Todman today told Bundaberg Magistrates Court officers were forced to arrest Shaw after he became violent with security guards.

"The defendant ... jumped a security barricade," Sgt Todman said.

"He approached the security staff in a violent rage."

The officer said security staff continually told Shaw to stay back but he ignored them, continuing his aggression.

Sgt Todman said his attitude later changed and he was apologetic for his actions.

"This was a very foolish action on your part," Magistrate Jennifer Batts said.

"I accept that you are very remorseful."

Shaw, who pleaded guilty to obstructing security, was fined $360 and no conviction was recorded against him.
