Take to the greens for a good cause

SUNDAY golfers can play a round for Kenyan orphans when Coral Cove International Golf Course hosts Umoja Orphanage Kenya's annual charity golf day.

Umoja director and event organiser Cathy Booth has been fundraising for two years to build an orphanage in Kenya and she hopes the sport's community is ready to help.

"This is our third charity golf day and we are hoping golfing enthusiasts will come along again to support us," Mrs Booth says.

"The golf day falls on Father's Day this year and is a great excuse for dads to get together and help raise some money for orphaned and vulnerable children.

"We have moved the tee-off time until later in the day so there is still plenty of time for dads to enjoy their breakfast in bed."

The three-person ambrose event has a shotgun start at 11am. The Umoja team will also be cooking a barbecue lunch and selling raffle tickets before tee off.

Umoja hopes to have the first children's home built by this time next year. Entry fees for the day include cart hire, gold members $15, full members $30 and visitors $45. For more information, call the pro shop on 41593333.
