Tavern in trouble
A CONSULTANCY firm has been called in to take over the Moore Park Beach Tavern after it went into receivership earlier this week.
The NewsMail understands the previous owners, Chris and Janice Giudice, have left their home and business in Bundaberg, and have not been contactable by staff or the media.
Brisbane-based administrators BDO were called in on Tuesday, as well as Sunshine Coast consultancy firm, Cattanach Consultancy, the following day.
A BDO representative said the company had been "in breach of its financial facilities".
Cattanach Consultancy director John Cattanach said his firm was employed by BDO to manage the property, and was expected to take over on Monday and continue running the business.
"It will be sold in the future - we're taking it over and trading it as normal," he said.
Mr Cattanach said until the sale, it would be very much business as usual.
"Nothing is changing, in so far as the services of the hotel," he said.
Mr Cattanach said no staff had lost their jobs and the four staff members employed would be kept on.
In fact, Mr Cattanach said the takeover would increase job opportunities.
"We will be doing certain things to ensure trade increases," he said.
"There will be more employment opportunities."
An Office of Liquor and Gaming Regulation search shows the tavern was taken over by the Giudice family in 2009 trading as Harpon Pty Ltd.
