Tap to council app
IT TOOK three months and $15,000 for Bundaberg Regional Council to develop its new mobile application.
Deputy Mayor David Batt described the new app as a "mobile-friendly" version of the council's website.
"With quick-links for popular services including contacting council, what's on, latest news and rubbish and recycling," Cr Batt said.
He said the new app gave the council the opportunity "to engage, inform and promote all the wonderful things" about Bundaberg to community members and visitors.
Cr Batt said the council had, over the past five years, noticed the shift in the way people were accessing information online.
He said mobile traffic made up around 41% of all people visiting the council website.
The council's chief information officer Adam Holthouse said the older community were kept in mind when designing the app.
"I think the key thing is just designing for touch and ease of use," Mr Holthouse said.
"You'll notice it has all the larger icons and it's very easy to use even with your thumb and one hand."
Mr Holthouse said the council's libraries offered devices for you to try the app and also technology inclusion programs.
"For people who may not understand the technology," he said.
You can download the council's new app from Google Play or Apple App stores.
