Sydney expected to shiver through the week
SYDNEYSIDERS are being told to keep their jumpers and raincoats on hand as the cold and soggy weekend weather carries over into the start of the week.
This weekend gave the city its first taste of winter, with temperatures plummeting as low as 10 degrees on Friday.
It comes as parts of NSW as far west as Orange woke on Friday morning to a light dusting of snow, with many places in the Central Tablelands experiencing their coldest period since September last year.
The chilly weather comes off the back of an unseasonably warm autumn, with Sydney braving record-breaking temperatures as high as 35 degrees throughout April.

The current cold spell in Sydney is expected to continue into Monday, with 26km/h winds keeping the maximum temperature down around the 18 degree mark. There is also a chance of some scattered showers throughout the day.
It was an especially windy weekend on Maroubra Beach, as Anastasia and her daughter Madeleine found out.
"The wind took Maddie's umbrella," she said. "We had to chase it down the beach!"
The rain is expected to clear by Wednesday, with the sun finally coming out on Thursday. However the wintry temperatures are here to stay, with the mercury staying below 20 for the entire week.
