Swing ball car turning plenty of heads

THERE is one thing Adam Niedojadlo learnt on a 16,000km trip from the UK to Mongolia - the bloke with the most outlandish looking car has the most fun.

So when it came to his tour around Australia, the former British Army aircraft technician could not resist the temptation to pimp his ride.

"After (I left the army two years ago) I did the Mongol Rally," he said.

"(It's) all about taking a shit car to Mongolia and back again.

"It's just a bit more fun … if you rock up in a town and you've got a stupid-coloured car, it makes it more interesting."

The 32-year-old from Nottinghamshire in England said he was two weeks into his Australia sojourn when he stopped briefly on the Gold Coast on the weekend - posing for photos at Currumbin beach.

He was joined by Alexandra Dress from Germany - another traveller he met on social media who joined him for part of the trip.

Mr Niedojadlo said by having a swing ball game strapped to the front of his car, he encouraged people to approach him and have a chat.

"I'm going to add more stuff to it," he said.

Mr Niedojadlo said in his time with the British Army he travelled extensively - serving in Iraq and Afghanistan as well as in Northern Ireland.

But the former soldier said his trips were always on the "army's terms" and now he was determined to see the world on his own.

Once his trip around Australia is done, Mr Niedojadlo says he might attempt to cycle the length of New Zealand before travelling Asia.

"I've just been travelling around but rather than travel aimlessly, I like to set myself little challenges," he said.

"I worked in Sydney for six months as a barman … you can't really go wrong serving alcohol.

"I think Australians are more friendly once you get out of the cities."
