Site reaches 1000 for tortured dog

A FACEBOOK group that was established to show support and help establish leads in relation to a horrible attack on two Bargara dogs now has more than 1000 members.

The group, called Sexual Assault on Family Pet, was created on December 5, after a NewsMail article on November 23 detailed the attack that left one Staffordshire terrier bitch dead and its male playmate severely traumatised.

The injuries to the bitch indicated they may have been caused by a sexual assault.

The dogs, aged nine and 10, escaped their Bargara house in November and were found on Barrons Road, just outside Bundaberg Port.

Messages of support and disgust at the attack have flowed since the site’s creation, with people and animal cruelty organisations from across the world commenting and sharing links.

The dogs’ owners, who wished to remain anonymous, cling on to hope that the website will lead them to the perpetrators.

“Thank you to everyone for your support,” they said.

“We haven’t given up hope of finding the people responsible, so please invite your family and friends so the information can continue to circulate and hopefully we can find the people responsible.”
