Support for carers in awareness week

LOCAL business and service providers will come out in force tomorrow to celebrate the role of unpaid carers in the community.

Hosted by STEPS Care for Carers, the Care for You Expo will showcase the region's best health and wellbeing-based businesses in a bid to improve wellness among carers.

The expo is just one of the events being held across the country to promote National Carer's Week. STEPS Care for Carers facilitator Janine Mewburn said the expo was about making carers in the community feel supported, and encouraging people to consider their own health as well as those they were caring for.

"When you are caring for a loved one it's really easy to put your own health to the side, we see cases of this happening every day", Ms Mewburn said.

The Care for You Expo is on tomorrow at the Bundaberg Civic Centre from 10am - 2pm.
