Sun shines on Bundy beachgoers

NIELSON Park Beach was packed over the weekend with locals and visitors keen to soak up some sun.

Lifesaver Wendy Johnston was patrolling the beach and said conditions were “absolutely beautiful”.

“It is a gorgeous weekend,” she said.

“The water is a lovely temperature and we have been lucky with marine life as far as bluebottles go. We haven’t seen any, thankfully.”

Ms Johnstone said beach visitor numbers were up significantly from the previous weekend.

“We have had really good numbers since the weather has dried up,” she said.

“It’s really nice to see. Everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves.”

The water was not the only attraction, with families filling the park and barbecue areas.

The Bundaberg lifesaver praised the crowds.

“Everyone followed rules and stayed between the flags, which is so good,” Ms Johnston said.

“It really does make life easier for us so everyone has a good time, especially on such a busy few days.”
