Storm stars agree to new contracts

THE Melbourne Storm has been handed a big boost ahead of Saturday night's minor premiership decider, with five players re-signing for the club.

Kenny Bromwich, Cheyse Blair, Felise Kaufusi, Nelson Asofa-Solomona and Mark Nicholls have all agreed to terms to stay at the club, before the Storm takes on the Cronulla Sharks at AAMI Park in a winner-takes-all clash.

Bromwich and Blair have re-signed until the end of the 2018 season, while Nicholls, Kaufusi and Asofa-Solomona have all put pen to paper to stay for an extra year.

Bromwich has played every game for Craig Bellamy's team this season and his consistent play earned him a debut cap for New Zealand in the Trans-Tasman Test.

Kaufusi has also had a breakout season, with the 24-year-old named 18th man for Queensland in game three of this year's State of Origin series.

Blair has played 13 games in his debut season with the club, while Asofa-Solomona is one of the competition's best young forwards.

Nicholls is yet to make his Storm debut but has been on the cusp of selection for much of the year as a result of his strong form for feeder side Sunshine Coast Falcons in the Queensland Cup.

Storm football director Frank Ponissi was delighted to secure the players' signatures.

"All five players are an integral part of Melbourne Storm both now and into the future,” he said.

"It was important for us to see these boys stay at the club to help us strive for continued success.

"We look forward to seeing all of them continue to develop, improve and play good football in Melbourne next season and beyond.”
