Sticky beaks frustrate medics after truck goes up in flames

PASSER-BYS who ignored warnings to stand back after a sugar truck caught fire have frustrated emergency service personnel.

QAS senior operations supervisor Martin Kelly said paramedics attended the incident on Burnett Heads Rd near the Turtle roundabout about 1.20am Sunday and while no one was injured, it was disappointing members of the public who stopped to see what was going on potentially put themselves and those responding in danger by failing to follow directions.

Fire crews were able to extinguish the blaze before it spread to the load of sugar but the truck was extensively damaged.
