Steketee impresses on debut

HE WAS limited to bowling only two overs but that was enough for Warwick paceman Mark Steketee to make an impression in his first Big Bash League appearance

The Australian under-19 representative took a wicket in his first over of Big Bash action while on debut for Brisbane Heat in their match-up with the Sydney Sixers at the Gabba on Thursday night.

Steketee had Sixers' opener Nic Maddinson caught by Chris Lynn off a top edge in the first of his two overs which yielded 1-15.

Unfortunately Steketee's early breakthrough failed to inspire the Heat to a much-needed victory as they tumbled to a third successive defeat.

Gatton all-rounder Chris Sabburg contributed 19 runs from 19 balls for the Heat as they fell four runs short.
