Man stabbed after call to help woman

A MAN was allegedly stabbed in the neck on Friday night after he went to the aid of a family member who was allegedly being abused at a home in Tinana.

A spokesman from Maryborough's Criminal Investigation Branch said the incident happened during an apparent domestic violence situation.

A woman called a family member to come to her assistance at a home in Everetts Way and when the man arrived, he was involved in an altercation with another male at the residence.

The woman's family member was then allegedly attacked with a knife, resulting in a stab wound to his neck which required six stitches, the police spokesman said.

Both men were taken to hospital requiring medical assistance after the incident, with the alleged perpetrator allegedly also receiving serious injuries during the altercation.

It is unknown if any charges have been laid in regards to the incident.
