St Nick crash lands in South Kolan
SOUTH Kolan residents have completely immersed themselves in Christmas festivities this year.
Every year, Michelle Kelly and her family bring some Christmas joy by dressing up and positioning Santa in various places around their home.
This year the man in the red suit has been caught up with the end of the cane season, which has him hanging on a haul-out truck from his boots.
"This year we wanted to give recognition to the cane farms and our family is also involved in cane farming," Samuel Kelly, one of the Kelly kids, said.
"We've been doing it for at least five years now and we change where Santa is every three days.
"We are thinking we might get him doing something with a harvester next, but we aren't sure yet."
Sam said they do it so everyone driving past can get some enjoyment out of it.
"It makes people happy and that makes us happy".
Some of Santa's previous stunts have seen him under a tree with a water bottle suspended above him to beat the summer heat and up the power pole and even the garden gnomes have been seen towing Santa's lawn mower sleigh like reindeer.
One year he was kicking back in front the TV.
"There's been so many good ones over the years, it's hard to separate them," Sam said.
"But every year on the night before Christmas he gets put up on the roof in the chimney."
The Kellys' Christmas tradition is eagerly anticipated each year and loved by the South Kolan community who write letters telling them how much they love seeing what Santa gets up to.
Santa can be seen spreading the Christmas spirit along Gin Gin Rd, South Kolan.
