CONGRATULATIONS to Lynn Donaldson (Brothers) for winning the BDLBA Championship Singles which were played at Brothers Bowls Club last week. The numbers were down from last year but the quality of play certainly wasn't.
In the semi-finals Cassandra Millerick (Gin Gin) came up against Bernice Lewis (Brothers) & Bernice defeated Cassandra. The other semi final was between Kay Cook (Bargara) & Lynn Donaldson. In the semi between Bernice & Cassandra I believe that Burnice was the oldest person to enter the Singles & that Cassandra was the youngest & that the figures 1 & 8 were significant. Congratulation To Lynn Donaldson winner, Bernice Lewis runner up, & both Kay Cook & Cassandra Millerick on equal third place.
Many thanks to Danny the green keeper, the Brothers Sports Club & the many tireless ladies, whether they were working inside, marking games, or umpiring throughout the 3 days we appreciate your help.

During the course handlers were taught to heel their dogs on a loose lead, sit, stand, drop and stay, as well as recall and food refusal exercises. Dogs ranged in ages from three months to adult years, with youthful to elderly handlers.
The Graduates at the Graduation Ceremony, entertained relatives, friends, Club members and officials by taking part in a fancy patterned heeling demonstration, showing off what they had learnt duriing the course.
Graduates are encouraged to continue their training with the Club in the Basic Class 2, at 6.30pm on Wednesday nights at the Diggers Soccer Club grounds in Osborn Street, near the Norville School. Most of the above graduates, having thoroughly enjoyed the basic course and acknowledging the difference it has made to their dogs, have signified their intention to continue their training. Training for the even further advanced dogs in Basic 3, CCD and Novice Class is from 7.30pm on the same nights. Agility and Rally-O training is also available.
The Club's policy is to train with the three P's - patience, perseverance and praise, add love and understanding, be firm but kind, and make training fun for dog and handler - the enjoyable experience it should be. A dog that loves, honours and obeys is a delightful joy to himself and owner, and well respected by members of the community.
Small classes for new handlers are guaranteed in order to maximise learning capacity, and instructors each have up to more than thirty years experience in dog psychology and obedience training.
The Club's next 7-week Structured Basic Course for new handlers will commence on Wednesday, 5th June, 2013. Pre-enrolment is a necessity, and dogs will not be placed into classes without prior enrolment. Class numbers are filling very rapidly, so enrol now to secure a place. Do not miss out on reaping the gratifying rewards and absolute delight of owning a happy, well adjusted, contented, obedience trained dog.

Table Tennis

The Bundaberg Radiology Pre-Winter Table Tennis resumed last week after a longer than expected Easter break with several of the top team suffering unexpected losses. In the Premier Division, NBA jumped into top position thanks to a resounding 10 - 2 win over last-placed Hot Shots while previous leaders, Who Knows, went down to Killers. For NBA, Brett Fourro was the dominant player with an unbeaten record for the night including a strong four game win over Liam Tacon who filled in for Steve Grieving. However, he was also taken to four games by Jakob Baker who was a late replacement for Susan McDonald. Both Ashley Parrott and Ned Freeman also beat Baker and Blake Webster but lost to Tacon.
Killers squandered a great opportunity to bridge the gap between their current third place and the top two teams in their 7-5 win over Who Knows, winning seven of the nine singles but losing all three doubles after being in winning positions in all three. Peter Spratley and Dave Delpratt both won their three singles, Spratley without dropping a game, Delpratt after five game battles with Thanh Tran and Ben Freeman. Ben McHugh also beat Freeman in four games.
In Division One, the biggest upset of the night was the 9-3 loss by the previously unbeaten Hurt Locker to FiiK who are now only two points away from the all-important second place. Jim Buttling was undefeated for FiiK, including another incredible five game win over Cong Tran, 17/15 in the decider, after having lost the first two games. Tran also struggled to overcome Tumon Sohibi and Nev Newitt, these matches going the full distance as well. Travis McDermid provided the only other success for Hurt Locker with a four game win against Sohibi.
Second-placed Mixtures also lost, falling 8-4 to TMT who recorded their first win of the season. Matthew Lomas won his three singles including a five game marathon against Hayden Green 13/11, 9/11, 17/15, 10/12, 14/12. This was Green's third five game loss for the match, having gone down to Trevor Barrett 11/9 and to Brian Fairbrother 11/7 in previous deciding games. Anek Chantarat reversed the fortunes with a four game win over Fairbrother then another five game thriller against Barrett in which all games went to 11/9 or 12/10. TMT also won two doubles, both involving Fairbrother, to add to the final scoreline.
In Division Two, frontrunners KJB increased their advantage enormously when they defeated Last Resort 10-2 but Storm's 9-3 win against second-placed King Shae has put them three points away from the top two teams with only two rounds to play before the final. For KJB, Brian Cuskelly was undefeated while Josh Horton and Kate Juillerat both suffered one loss each. Horton went down to Briahna Connolly in straight games in the opening singles while Juillerat lost in four games to George Haggar.
Brendan Connolly stood in for Les Dawson and led Storm to their victory over King Shae with an unbeaten performance for the night. This included wins over Geoff Dickie and the division's leading player, Kingsley Parrott. Shaina Green matched these wins but later fell to Shanae Barrett in a wonderful contest, 13/11 in the fifth game. Storm also made a clean sweep of the doubles.
Division Three completed their preliminary rounds last week and will now go into a three week finals series. Despite having a bye last week, 2JN maintained the place at the top of the points ladder and will have another bye this week while the remaining teams contest the quarter-finals.
Results last week were: Pharaohs (Cathy Rivers 4, George Haggar 3, Dave Delpratt 3) def Who Cares (Nev Newitt 4, June Cuskelly 1) 8-4; Pit Bulls (David Pitt 5, Bruce Bryan 4, Maria Drury 3) def Tigers (Phil Freeman 2, Brendan Gibb 1) 9-3; BJC (Brian Cuskelly 5, John Walsh 4, Cath Drury 1) def Whatever (John Jackson 2, Maria Van Den Broek 2, John Martens 1) 8-4.
