Spectacular deal sweet as sugar
BUNDABERG Cycling Club’s reborn track carnival has received a further boost with another local icon, Bundaberg Sugar, getting behind it.
Kevin Brogden Memorial Velodrome with be brimming and buzzing with colour and excitement on December 10 and 11 when a world-class field lines up in the 4BU Cycling Spectacular Bundaberg Sugar Cup on Wheels.
The sporting show-piece will return after a nine-year absence.
Wheels were set in motion for revival of the carnival 12 months ago by club president Toby Boylan.
Club secretary Jason Templeman said it was “always the desire of the committee to revert back to the heritage name of the 4BU Cycling Spectacular”.
“This meant negotiation was opened up with radio station Bundaberg Broadcasters who are the station’s owner, and the 4BU Cycling Spectacular was signed off on,” Templeman said.
“It was only a few short weeks later that yet another magical moment in the rebirth of this iconic sporting event when a local and national business giant in Bundaberg Sugar, via their GM of marketing Guy Basile, called the club to confirm their commitment as a co-naming rights sponsor.
“It has just snow-balled from there, and the support of much local business, families and supporters has been overwhelming.
“Joining sponsorship ranks are NewsMail, Boylans, Bed r Us, Brumby’s Uptown, A 2 Z 4 X 4, NQX, Morrison Sport, Coca-Cola, Bundaberg Christian College, Tyrepower, Allan Zunker, Keyworth Family, Mal McDougall, Peter Davis Construction, Robbie Moodie Electrical, Specialized, Incitec, Sunfam AWD, J & R McCracken and Coral Cove Resort.”
