Sounds of Sinatra swings into Bundy for 100th milestone

THE classic Frank Sinatra sound never gets old and to celebrate what would have been Ol' Blue Eyes' 100th birthday the band that helped make him a star is set to honour him the best way they know how.

Bringing their signature songs to Australia for the first time The Tommy Dorsey Orchestra is taking the show on the road with a series of commemorative concerts.

Musical director Terry Myers said the band was ready to hit the ground running and was looking forward to taking audiences on a walk down memory lane.

"We've attended performances of the music of our genre before where the band will come on stage and play absolutely great but make no effort to communicate with the audience - just throw it out, take it or leave it - but we really try to make a connection and that's something special," he told APN.

"We have some fine singers and I'm surrounded by wonderful musicians of a whole range of ages which brings so much to the performance."

Catch them at the Moncrieff Entertainment Centre, September 24.
