VIDEO: Extreme BMX takes over Grand Central

SOME of Australia's best BMX riders are ramping up the action in Grand Central's centre court this week.

Easterfest favourite the JC Epidemic Crew wowed crowds yesterday with the first performance of the group's epic indoors half-pipe show.

Crew member David Irwin or "MC Dave" said members of the group used their passion for extreme sports as a way of sharing their passion for Jesus Christ.

"We heard a story that changed our lives and wanted to share it," he said.

"It can be a sacrifice for us, leaving our families behind and it's hard work but it's what we love, what else would you rather be doing?"

Grand Central will play host to the free shows until Thursday this week before the boys head to Queens Park for the Easter weekend.

Mr Irwin said the show at Easterfest was set to be dangerous, exhilarating and super-entertaining.

"We're doing something different this year. We've incorporated dance for the first time."

Easterfest event director Dave Schenk said shoppers could catch the free shows until Thursday.

"Those on the second floor are set to get a unique view of the BMX performances," he said.
