WHAT do Snoop Dogg, Pearl Jam and Blur have in common?

They'll all be heading Down Under in January to co-headline the Big Day Out music festival, with all three acts performing full-concert sets.

Blur have not toured Australia since 1997 and festival organisers have created a new "Love" stage in their honour.

Also on the bill are Arcade Fire, Major Lazer, Flume, Tame Impala, The Lumineers, Mac Miller and Grouplove.

Organisers officially announced the line-up via the festival's website at 8pm tonight.

Snoop Dogg, who has also recently been performing reggae music under the name Snoop Lion, was denied a visa to come to Australia in 2007 but was allowed to enter the country a year later thanks to a letter of recommendation from Russell Crowe.

January will be Snoop Dogg's first-ever shows with Big Day Out.

The Australian Big Day Out tour starts on the Gold Coast on January 19 at the festival's new home at Metricon Stadium and Carrara Parklands.

The festival continues to Melbourne on January 24, Sydney on January 26 and 27, Adelaide on January 31 and Perth on February 2.

Pre-sale tickets go on sale tomorrow.
