Skydiver injured in steep fall

A FUN skydive went horribly wrong for a 47-year-old man in Toogoolawah on Sunday after his parachute failed.

The Brooloo man was jumping at the Toogoolawah sky dive drop zone when his first shoot failed and his reserve shoot tangled on opening.

After his main shoot failed the man pulled his reserve at 3000 feet, but it tangled and the man was unable to control his landing.

Narrowly missing power lines, he came down in a field about one kilometre east of the drop zone.

The AGL Action Rescue Helicopter's flight doctor and flight paramedic treated the man for serious leg injuries.

The chopper airlifted the man to Nambour General Hospital in a stable condition late Sunday afternoon.
