Show brings campdraft back to town

BIGGENDEN’S annual show on May 15 and 16 will see a return of a campdraft as part of the Saturday program, after a gap of four years.

Show society president Darren Geissler said the postponement of the charity campdraft, which would have been held on February 21, created an opportunity to hold a draft at the show instead.

“Much improved weather conditions means graziers are now prepared to lend cattle for the event,” he said.

It was decided at Monday night’s meeting to proceed with improvements to electricity access points in the showgrounds, which will be completed in time for the show.

The society recently received a state government show society grant of $7516.

A challenge will be issued to community organisations to enter a team in a tug-of-war competition on the Saturday evening.

Taste of Africa

WORLD-class acrobats and circus artistes will be coming to the Childers Showgrounds, in Ridgway Street, on February 16 and 17 for the Loritz Circus Out of Africa show.

The African-themed circus shows, which are new to Australia, start at 7.30pm both nights.

Booking is recommended for the shows. Call 0439 247 287 to ensure your seat.
