Shorten not opposed to funding new Townsville stadium
FAVOURABLY disposed was how Opposition Leader Bill Shorten described Labor's position on a new stadium for Townsville.
When he spoke at the Queensland Media Club in Brisbane on Thursday he even revealed he was conceived in Townsville.
Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk has already promised $100 million in State Government funding for the project.
The new stadium's future was thrust into the spotlight after North Queensland Cowboys captain Johnathan Thurston plugged the need for another stadium when accepting the trophy for the team's win at the recent NRL grand final.
