Shen Neng 1 case adjourned

SHEN NENG 1 captain Jichang Wang and chief officer Xuegang Wang will not have to appear in court until April 18, 2012.

Their case was adjourned in Gladstone Magistrate Court yesterday afternoon

The men are charged with a vessel causing damage to a marine park after Shen Neng 1 ran aground in the Great Barrier Reef in 2010.

The Shen Neng 1 was moored in Bundaberg waters while it was unloaded and prepared for towing.

In order for the case to go ahead, the extent of the damage caused to the reef needs to be determined.

It is estimated that the review should be completed by April 2012.

The case will be revisted in Gladstone Magistrate Court on April 18.
