SHALOM College claimed the first title of the 2013-2014 lifesaving season with victory in the Secondary School Surf League (Wide Bay) at Bundaberg SLSC.

More than 200 students from nine schools hit the beach and the water for the competition with Shalom claiming victory over St Luke's in second and Hervey Bay Xavier College in third.

The event was a great opportunity for students who don't compete in club-based surf lifesaving competitions to enjoy the taste of salt water and gain some new skills.
