Shake with calypso rhythm

ALVIN and d'Band Jahbutu are arguably the most authentic calypso band this side of the Caribbean Sea.

They have the look, moves, and grooves to get the toes tapping, the waistline moving, the vocals chords humming and the dance floor shaking.

Jahbutu creates a vibrant, colourful and exciting blend of traditional and contemporary West Indian music.

The music is a blend of calypso, soca, funky reggae beats and Afro Latino rhythms.

Frontman Alvin Rostant, also known as Jahbutu hails from Trinidad.

He learnt to play the steel pan with his father's band The Cavaliers who were responsible for taking the steel drum to the world.

He has done countless gigs in Childers, Bundaberg and the Woodford Multicultural Festivals just to name a few.

Alvin is also the famous Banana Joe character who visits all primary schools with the Queensland Arts Council-sponsored Banana Joe Show.

Alvin revels in mentoring keen pan players at home and playing at festivals and corporate gigs Australia-wide.

Alvin surrounds himself with musicians that are talented, professional and entertaining.

What ever the occasion, Alvin delivers.
