Beach assault accused denied bail

A VICTORIAN teenager who allegedly attempted to sexually assault eight women at a Gold Coast beach has been denied bail.

The teenager, the Southport Magistrates Court was told, allegedly assaulted the women in the surf about midday on Tuesday.

The man was charged with seven counts of sexual assault, two counts of attempted rape and four counts of common assault.

The court denied the man's bail application and rejected as implausible his argument the contact was accidental.

The case was adjourned until next month.
