Severe thunderstorm warning

THE Bureau of Meteorology is warning Bundaberg residents to move their cars undercover and secure items in their yards with a severe thunderstorm headed for town.

The warning, which was issued just after 2.30pm, says the storm is likely to produce damaging winds, very heavy rainfall, flash flooding and large hailstones.

An Emergency Management Queensland spokesman encouraged Bundaberg and Monto residents to move their cars undercover and away from trees, beware of fallen trees and powerlines, avoid using the phone during the thunderstorm and to seek shelter indoors.

Other Locations which may be affected include Brisbane, Maroochydore, Gympie, Ipswich, Moreton Bay and islands, Kingaroy, Noosa, Hervey Bay and Fraser Island.
