Pre-Christmas is the time for sales in Buxton

TO THE uninitiated it looks like the whole town of Buxton is on the market.

A quick trip through "Childers' best-kept secret" revealed that many properties - both houses and land - were for sale through any of a number of local real estate agents.

According to A1 Realty Wide Bay Burnett sales consultant Michael Vella, the high number of "for sale" signs sprouting up in the area was normal as we entered what he termed "selling season".

"The time of year is selling season for Buxton, with buyers looking to secure before Christmas. The other buyer group is retirees," Mr Vella said.

"The past few years has seen real estate slow but (we've) seen a boost in interest."

In the past 30 days, A1 Realty Wide Bay Burnett has had three properties under contract and sold another three, which Mr Vella said was a clear indicator the market was picking up.

"Interest seems to be continuing, so we are optimistic about the next quarter," Mr Vella said.
