Seagulls decision is delayed
The jury is still out in the case of the Hervey Bay Seagulls.
No verdict was given after the club had its appeal to play in this year’s Bundaberg Rugby League competition heard by Wide Bay Rugby League officials in Maryborough yesterday.
Despite no decision being made after the more than hour-long meeting yesterday afternoon, Hervey Bay president and former A-grade coach Steve Crawford said he was happy with the progress that had been made.
“It was a positive meeting all round and that’s a good thing,” Crawford said. “Everyone is working together to try and resolve the issue at hand, so that’s a step in the right direction.
“I now have to talk to my committee about where we are at, while Wide Bay officials will do the same – it’s a game of wait and see what happens now. Hopefully we can come to an agreement that will benefit all concerned.”
Seagulls appealed to Wide Bay after Fraser Coast Rugby League officials rejected the team’s proposal to play in Bundaberg late last year, because it wants the club to compete in its own Friday night competition.
