Schultz triumphs at Championships

BUNDABERG'S Brendon Schultz has triumphed at the Bundaberg Open Age Championships winning the under-16 boy's final.

On the final day of the three-day tournament top seed Schultz defeated Sam Moster 2-6 6-4 6-4 for a memorable victory.

According to assistant tournament director Jeff Nissen, the 14-year-old tennis star had been in tremendous form throughout the entire competition.

Nissen said fifth seed in the 12 year girls Bundaberg's Darina Kamenoff finished fourth overall losing her final game 6-7 2-6.

"It's been a fantastic tournament with more than 150 juniors taking part," he said.

"The reports from the players and parents have been very positive."

Bundaberg's junior tennis hopefuls will next be seen at the Central Queensland Junior Masters Finals in Gladstone from October 10-11.
