Teachers get slimed to help raise funds for books
BEING a teacher at the Bundaberg Special School just got a whole lot messier for some members of staff.
Acting deputy principal Sarah Lester said the Slime the Teacher event was a fun challenge to raise money to buy books for the school's library.
"We had 10 teachers we approached and asked if they would be in it," she said.
"Then the students were able to vote with a gold coin for the teacher they would most like to see slimed."
Ms Lester said it turned into a fun experience for everybody.
After four days the four teachers who had the most votes stayed in and the other six were eliminated from the competition.
"It was quite a neck-and-neck race," Ms Lester said.
"There were $50 notes being bandied about, and teachers were voting against other teachers."
The school raised more than $500 to buy books, and Ms Lester said the event was such a success it may turn into an annual fundraiser.
