A BUNDABERG girl is fighting for her life after a car crash on Heidkes Rd at Windermere.

Seventeen-year-old Anna Webb was the single occupant of a station wagon yesterday afternoon when it smashed into a power pole about 3.20pm.

"She was transported to Bundaberg Base Hospital with serious head and chest injuries," a Queensland Police spokeswoman said.

The Bundaberg Christian College student was later airlifted to the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital where she remains today in a critical condition.

Police are investigating the cause of the smash.

A Christian College spokeswoman said the school community was thinking of the girl and her family in this difficult time.

"Obviously we are praying for the family at this time," the spokeswoman said.

She said the staff and students were doing "as well as can be expected".
