Santa brings smiles to sick kids

FACE after face lit up with joy when the jolly man in the red suit visited the Bundaberg Hospital children's ward yesterday.

Santa, with the help of some elves from radio station 4BU, had a present for each patient when he visited the youngsters at the ward.

Bundaberg Broadcasters general manager David Stretton said the presents had been collected during a competition that gave listeners a family pass to the Moncrieff Cinema in exchange for a present for sick or disadvantaged kids.

"We had 110 passes to give away, but we ended up with more than 350 presents," he said.

Mr Stretton said a number of those who had turned up with presents had refused to take a family pass.

"A lot were getting quite emotional," he said.

Among the donations was a box of new books from Dymocks and a large number of lollies from Jake's Candy.

Presents not given away were picked up by the Salvation Army.
