SAME-SEX MARRIAGE: Editor calls for yes vote

OPINION: The Federal Government's postal plebiscite on same-sex marriage is a sham.

What a waste of $122 million.

We, the voters, elect members of parliament to represent our interests and make decisions.

Not to duck big issues like same-sex marriage.

A postal vote is plain gutless.

No doubt Tony Abbott and his like-minded colleagues will be hoping that an older demographic, used to mailing systems, will dominate the vote.

They are also more likely to side with his hopes of a No vote.

Do you support same-sex marriage?

This poll ended on 31 August 2017.

NO

This is not a scientific poll. The results reflect only the opinions of those who chose to participate.

There are strong concerns about the postal vote.

Australian Lawyers for Human Rights (ALHR) has condemned the postal vote decision.

"We support the current constitutional challenge to the funding of this divisive and ridiculous proposal which will not produce a statistically meaningful outcome and is, unhappily, likely to encourage hate speech against the LGBTI community, their families and their children," said ALHR's LGBTI Committee Co-Chair, Nicholas Stewart.

Same-sex marriage is a no-brainer.

To continue to discriminate against LGBTI Australians cannot be tolerated any longer.

Let us allow loving couples to marry.

How can such a simple, decent thing be so difficult?

It is time for us to move forward.

The legislation of same-sex marriage is inevitable.

I am urging everyone to make sure they vote and to vote 'YES'.
