In Queensland Parliament on Friday morning Ms Miller announced her resignation as a member of the cabinet.

"This morning I will advise the House that I have tendered my resignation from the Queensland Cabinet to the Premier," Ms Miller told the parliament.

"It has been an honour to serve as Minister for Police, Fire and Emergency Services and Minister for Corrective Services.

"I have enjoyed working with all my Commissioners, Directors-General, officers and staff across my Portfolio.

"It has been a privilege to stand shoulder to shoulder with them, supporting them as they do what they do best - keeping Queenslanders safe.

"I wish them well in their future endeavours and my spirit will always be with them."

Ms Palaszczuk is expected to reshuffle her cabinet over the Christmas break.

More to come.
