YELLOW was the theme of the day as community members and the Branyan Rural Fire Brigade got together at the weekend to celebrate Rural Fire Service week.

Equipment officer Tara Ellem said about 150 people attended the event on Saturday at the brigades headquarters.

"It was an opportunity for us to thank residents for their ongoing support and to celebrate all the hard work that the volunteers put in," she said.

The event included a display of fire trucks and equipment, live fire safety displays, a barbecue lunch and children's activities including a jumping castle, face painting and more.

Three members were also awarded on the day for their continuous efforts.

"David Janson, David Helmore and Glenn Mountney each received a Diligent and Ethical Service Award," Ms Ellem said.

"They have been with the brigade for 10 years."

Ms Ellem said volunteers manage and operate the brigade, which has 23 active members.

"Our members range in age from young to old," she said.

"We usually meet every two weeks for training and a monthly meeting.

"For us, it's all about helping the community.

"That's what we love to do."

Branyan Rural Fire Brigade has been operating for 30 years this year.
