AEC sets the record straight on Hinkler recount rumours

MORE than 3000 votes have been counted by Australian Electoral Commission scrutineers in Hinkler since counting resumed on Tuesday.

Hinkler divisional returning officer Kym McGuire said postal and absent votes were still being counted.

She said rumours of a recount in Hinkler were untrue and that after election night, scrutineers were required to conduct a recheck of all ordinary votes received from every polling place, pre-poll voting centre and mobile polling team within a division.
