Road roller rolls off trailer

THE southbound lane of Goodwood Rd was closed for several hours yesterday when a piece of heavy equipment came off a trailer as it was rounding a sharp turn.

A Bundaberg Police spokesman said a heavy road roller came off its trailer near the railway bridge on Goodwood Rd.

He said the accident happened about 9.15am.

A heavy crane had to be called out to get the roller upright.

The accident apparently happened when a shear pin on the trailer carrying the roller snapped.

Traffic controllers had to be called in to regulate traffic while the roller was being righted.

The road was reopened again early yesterday afternoon.

The police spokesman said no one was injured in the accident.
