Miriam Vale has new phone system
MIRIAM Vale residents are set to benefit from Gladstone Regional Council’s new telephone system, which will result in better customer service and reduced costs to ratepayers around the region.
Council corporate services portfolio spokesperson Cr Rick Hansen said the council had commissioned the whole-of-region system in recent weeks.
“Council administration centres in Gladstone, Calliope and Miriam Vale, and depots in Miriam Vale and Calliope, are now linked to one telephone system via a voice-over-internet telephone system,” Cr Hansen said.
He said the telephone system allowed for seamless customer service throughout the region, where calls could be answered by staff in any of the administration centres.
“This system allows council to provide consistent information and service, regardless of the location of the customer service officer receiving your call,” Cr Hansen said.
“The cost of transferring STD calls from office to office has been removed and staff have a range of operational benefits that should assist in enhancing efficiency and customer service.”
Cr Hansen said other council facilities would be linked to the system during 2010.Great graphite display
