Car thieves rampage through Ipswich, breaking cyclist's leg
IT SOUNDS like something out of Grand Theft Auto.
High on ice, a group of dim-witted crooks steals one car, smashes into a few bystanders, before fleeing and hopping into another stolen car.
Ipswich detectives are hot on the heels of multiple offenders who are believed to be involved in a series of incidents in Booval and Bundamba yesterday afternoon.
There was chaos in the Racehorse Hotel car park about 1.15pm, as the thieves side-swiped several cars, also hitting a motorcyclist and breaking his leg.
They then ran to the Ipswich Turf Club, where they stole a white Nissan Navara ute from the track manager, driving the wrong way up Wickham St, next to Bundamba State School.

The offender dumped the ute outside the old wrecker's on Bergin's Hill Rd.
A Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman later confirmed that one man had been treated for a possible leg fracture following an incident at Booval about 1.25pm.
No other serious injuries were reported.
Ipswich Turf Club general manager Brett Kitching said the staff at the racetrack were dumfounded when two young males ran past them and jumped straight into the ute.
"They wondered what was going on," he said.
"It spoiled a quiet afternoon on the track."
Investigations are continuing, however police are confident of identifying the offenders and making arrests.
