Richards has premiership in sight

MARIE Richards has got a mortgage on the Trainers' Premiership after securing a double on Saturday at Thabeban Park.

Brodies Breed and Richo's Choice both came home the strongest for Richards and, with three months remaining in the season, she has established a commanding lead.

Brodies Breed won the FFA event over 460m by the skinniest of margins over kennel mate All About Foxy, with King Size Lorian relegated to third place.

The time of 26.80sec was well below Brodies Breed's best, but its form is hard to look past.

Richo's Choice ran a best-of-day 26.75sec, in doing so lowering the colours of up-and-comer Disco Roberta, who could only manage third.

Narelle Mulcahy matched Richards' efforts with winning double of her own.

“Narelle turns up every week with her team and was rewarded for her effort on Saturday,” fellow trainer Ron Brook said.

Mulcahy started with a win – Southern Spirit dominant over 460m – before Dashing Dean belied the form guide to oust Maddy's Queen and Chip Leader in race three.

Majestic Jewels turned around last week's lacklustre debut on the track to score narrowly over Black Eyed Aidan, while Michael Demedio brought Bouzy Rouge back to Bundaberg and made it two from two on the track.
