How can we respect elderly when they don't respect others

TODAY I was leaving Sugarland and turning on to Takalvan St.

I had to turn right so I needed to cross two lanes of traffic.

It was taking a while for traffic to clear as both set's of lights (Brothers Sports Club and Mcdonalds) had turned green.

I was waiting for one last car to pass when the car behind me obnoxiously honked their horn.

I just put it down to someone being impatient.

That was until I got to the lights at the airport where I find the car that was behind me next to me and I'm being glared at by an elderly couple.

I put my hands in the air and asked "what", they then continued to shake their heads at me.

I still don't understand why they were staring at me, I was following all my road rules and giving way until traffic had cleared.

Why is it our generations is asked to respect our elders when they are rude, obnoxious and judgmental towards us.

I'm sorry but I did not feel like pulling out in front of traffic and putting my life on the line because some people are impatient.

Just a reminder you can be find for honking your horn.
