Fire at Captain Creek

CAPTAIN Creek residents are getting ready to fight or flee, with a massive bushfire bearing down on homes in the area, near Agnes Water.

Eight fire crews are protecting several homes and sheds from the inferno, which broke out about 3pm Tuesday.

“This fire is moving quickly and firefighters are experiencing difficulty in controlling it,” a Community Safety spokesperson said.

Householders are advised to prepare their bushfire plans, or leave for a safer place if necessary.

Queensland Fire and Rescue Service suggested residents fill containers with water, seal gaps under doors and windows and put on protective clothing.

A bushfire at Mt Perry has burned more than 200 hectares, and was being monitored.
