Residents warned bin will be removed if dumping continues
A WHEELIE bin that has been at the 1770 marina boat ramp for less than a week, has been the latest scene of illegal dumping in the Agnes Water region.
After complaints were made from fishermen to the Gladstone Regional Council for removing four skip bins from the Seventeen Seventy marina two months ago, one wheelie bin was placed near the picnic area last Wednesday.
Since then, the bin has overflowed, and surrounded by bags of rubbish.
"The photographs were taken at the weekend and the rubbish that was dumped comprised mainly domestic waste. One of the photographs was from a resident who was concerned about the illegal dumping," Gladstone region mayor Gail Sellers said.
The new wheelie bin will be emptied three times a week, and the council is investigating the latest case of illegal dumping.
However, in a statement they said they have "no plans to provide extra bins in this area".
Residents have also been warned that if the dumping continues, the bin will be removed.
