More Ipswich suburbs to be switched on by the NBN

THOUSANDS of Ipswich households will be connected to the NBN over the next three years in the next phase of the multi-billion dollar project.

More than 30 suburbs have been included in the rollout including Augustine Heights, Bundamba, Brassell, Brookwater, Booval, North Ipswich, Ipswich, Leichhardt, Rosewood, Springfield, Springfield Lakes, Yamanto and Wulkuraka.

NBN spokeswoman Kylie Lindsay said construction and connection to Ipswich households was due to be completed before June, 2018.

She said the NBN was one of the biggest projects undertaken in the nation's history.

"This is exciting news for the many suburbs and towns that have been added to our construction schedule," she said.

"Due to the nature and size of the project we are planning to use a mix of technologies to deliver the network at the least cost to taxpayers and as quickly as possible, using the best fit solution for each area.

"This means you may have seen your area listed before in a previous plan, but it may have moved due to a change in the anticipated technology in the new rollout plans."

More than 238,000 families and businesses across the state are already connected to the NBN network across Queensland and further 169,000 premises are currently under construction.
