UPDATE: Teen suffers multiple injuries in car rollover

LATEST: A TEENAGE boy suffered extensive injuries in a single vehicle crash near Glenwood, north of Gympie, this morning.

Emergency workers said the youth, 15, was flown to Nambour Hospital after being stabilised at the scene of the rollover crash.

Police said they were notified by the Queensland Fire and Emergency Service at 1.15am.

The Maryborough-based Forensic Crash Unit and Scenes of Crime officers spoke to the driver, 17 and the injured rear seat passenger.

"He was medivaced with chest, pelvic and abdominal injuries, a fractured arm and possible back injuries," a spokesman said.

"Two other vehicle occupants fled the scene, he said.

RACQ CareFlight Rescue's Sunshine Coast crew arrived around 1:30am, a spokeswoman said. "The chopper's critical care unit treated one patient before flying both to Nambour Hospital.  

 

UPDATE:  A 15-YEAR-OLD boy airlifted after a Bruce Highway smash has been listed in a stable condition.

CareFlight 's critical care medical team treated one patient on-scene for multiple injuries before flying them to Nambour General Hospital.

The patient travelled in a stable condition, CareFlight reported.

EARLIER: 

A 15-YEAR-OLD boy has been airlifted to Nambour General Hospital after a single-car rollover on Wards Rd about the Bruce Hwy near Glenwood.

Maryborough Police Acting Sergeant Christopher Helsdon said nearby residents helped lift the car off the teenager before emergency services crews arrived on the scene.

Sgt Helsdon said the boy had injuries to his chest, pelvis and back.

Police are speaking to the 17-year-old driver.

The rollover occurred about 1am on Wednesday morning.
